Let us take a moment to introduce you to Jade Kovacevic, one of North Toronto Soccer’s newest coaches. Jade’s journey to becoming a coach is nothing short of remarkable, and we are thrilled to have her on board.
Hailing from the small town of Flamborough just north of Hamilton, Jade grew up in a competitive environment, constantly playing soccer with her older brother and four male cousins in the backyard. From an early age, she developed a drive and determination to be competitive, fuelled by these intense matches. At the age of 8, Jade joined the Flamborough Flames, her local competitive soccer club, where she continued to play with boys until she was 12 years old.
Jade’s talent and dedication to the sport led her to compete with Georgetown, Oakville SC, followed by selection into district, regional, and Ontario provincial programs at the age of 14. Her hard work and relentless pursuit of excellence started to pay off, as she began to make a name for herself in the soccer community.
But Jade’s journey didn’t stop there. Being selected to play in the Canada national team program, and play in World Cup tournaments provided her with incredible opportunities to travel the world and visit countries she may never have had the chance to see otherwise. From Trinidad and Tobago to Japan, to spending time living overseas gaining international experience in Hungary and Rome. Jade’s experiences at this level have shaped her into the person and coach she is today.
At the age of 20, Jade decided to try her hand at coaching and instantly fell in love with leading a group of young players. The joy she finds in witnessing their growth, both as individuals and as players, is what fuels her passion for coaching. Jade’s coaching philosophy develops the individual person and the player, these good people and knowledgeable players will come together to form an intelligent and hard-working group.
Now, as the Head Coach of North Toronto’s female League 1 Reserves and League 2 program, Jade is excited to share her knowledge and expertise with the team. Her dedication, work ethic, and love for the game make her a valuable asset to the club. Jade has big plans for the L1O program providing opportunities at US and Canadian universities for those who wish to pursue experiences as a student athlete at a top NCAA or U Sport environment and exposure to provincial and national team programs.
So, if you happen to come across Jade on the sidelines, be sure to say hello and welcome her to the North Toronto coaching family. We can’t wait to see the impact she will make!
