Kenrick Sylvestre, Vice President

Why did you join the board?
I joined the board of North Toronto Soccer because I have a passion for youth sports and the positive impact it has on the lives of young people. After spending time as a coach at North Toronto Soccer I realized that I could do more for the club off the field through fundraising, community outreach, and helping to grow the organization as a whole.

Joined Board in: 2021

What professional or other experience do you bring to the board?
As a result of a 25-year career in finance, I bring both financial acumen and the ability to raise funds for the organization in order to meet its operational goals.

How many years have you been on the board? At the club?
I was elected to the North Toronto Soccer Board of Directors on November 29, 2021. Prior to that, I started as a volunteer coach at NTSC in 2017 and became a parent coach with the North Toronto Nitros in 2018 when my daughter joined the program.

What other volunteer roles have you held at NT or another youth soccer/sport team? (Team Manager, Social Manager, parent, etc.)
I have enjoyed my time both as a recreational coach in the Grassroots program and as a parent coach in the Talented Pathway program at North Toronto Soccer. My involvement in the club has also provided me with the opportunity to learn more about the game that we all love. More specifically, North Toronto Soccer has allowed me to upgrade my coaching credentials and I have now become a Canada Soccer C-License trained coach.

What impact have you had as a volunteer at North Toronto Soccer?
I believe that all of the individuals at North Toronto Soccer have had a positive impact on the club and the communities it serves. Our team on and off the field have created a safe environment for young players to grow, learn, and develop while keeping the organization in a strong financial position so it can continue to do this good work for years to come.

Why is a board important in a youth soccer club?
A board is very important for a youth soccer club because it acts in the best interests of all stakeholders. Not only does the board provide strategic direction for the business operations of the club, but it also acts to do the very best for its employees, its partners, its coaches, its players and their parents alike.
