North Toronto’s 2010 Boys A team has undergone a remarkable transformation this season. Their stellar lineup comprising of captain Nic Visconti, class goalkeeper George Fortier, midfield maestro Sarp Sahin, defensive pillars Miles Cooper and Kais Hassam, and top goal scorer Ian Stone, have been key players who have transformed this team into a force to be reckoned with.
The season didn’t start on the brightest note, with a disappointing 4-1 loss to High Park setting a challenging tone. However, adversity only seemed to fuel the team’s desire to win. Following discussions and guidance from Coach Tommie, the boys rallied together and displayed a level of determination that would come to define the rest of their season so far.
From that point on, the 2010 Boys embarked on a winning streak that showcased their newfound resilience and willpower. They secured hard-fought victories, including a crucial 1-0 win against TAC – a team that had previously beat them 8-0 in August. Ibrahim Qureshi’s winning goal in this match symbolized the team’s ability to rise above past setbacks and deliver when it mattered most.
The momentum continued with impressive wins against Pickering (4-1), Cherry Beach (2-1), and Toronto Azzuri (5-0, 11-0), demonstrating NT’s dominance across all aspects of the game.
In comparison to their previous winter season, the team has undergone a significant transformation. Their record has surged from 1 win, 12 losses, and 1 tie, with a mere 2 goals scored, to an impressive 5 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie, accompanied by a remarkable 28 goals scored as they reach the midpoint of their current season. With their eyes set on maintaining their position at the top of the table, the team is determined to carry their momentum into the second half of the season.
Coach Tommie is extremely proud of his team and their success on and off the pitch. Keep up the great work! We look forward to their success during the second half of the season.
