Our 2009 Girls OPDL Team: A Year of Triumphs and a Promising Future

The North Toronto 2009 Girls OPDL soccer team has truly had an extraordinary year marked by an impressive range of victories that have solidified their status as one of the province’s most decorated teams. Their accomplishments are a testament to their exceptional skill, unwavering dedication, and the exceptional coaching by Euan Montgomery that guides them on and off the field. The pinnacle of their success in 2023 came with the Charity Shield Ontario Championship, a prestigious title that reflects not only their talent but also their commitment to sportsmanship and community spirit. This came just after the team finished at the top of the table of the U14 West Division.

These girls are no strangers to success. The team’s triumph at the EDP Fall Cup in 2022 and the Canada Cup in the same year added two more crowning achievements to their remarkable list of successes, showcasing their versatility and adaptability against tough competition. Their Top Rated Super Cup victories in both 2022 and 2023 are a testament to their sustained excellence, marking them as back-to-back champions.

In the fall of 2023, the team added to their winning streak at the FTF Fall Showdown, showcasing not only their individual talent but also their ability to function seamlessly as a cohesive unit. It is no surprise that the team was recognized as OPDL’s team of the month in October (fuelled by Gatorade).

As we reflect on the past year, the North Toronto 2009 Girls OPDL team has become a source of immense pride for the club and the NT community. The dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship demonstrated by these young players have set a high standard for excellence, and they have undoubtedly become role models for aspiring young soccer players.

Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate the future endeavours of these North Toronto girls. Their remarkable success over the past year has laid a strong foundation for continued excellence. As they gear up for upcoming competitions and challenges, we can’t wait to witness the next chapter of their inspiring journey on the soccer field. The future is undeniably bright for these talented athletes, and their continued success will undoubtedly be a source of pride and joy for the entire North Toronto community.
