Olivia started off her soccer journey with North Toronto in 2014, at the young age of 5 years old, in the North Toronto Recreational Program. Her desire to play, compete and learn was seen early on; where she would stay after her session to learn more at Train-to-be-a Nitro sessions. Olivia has always been an inquisitive player, asking questions, trying new moves, making mistakes and learning from them. She’s shown her drive to learn and improve through a long journey that is far from climaxing.
From her early days at Eglinton Park, Olivia Chisholm‘s desire to be on the field went unmatched. Seeing her achieve one of her dreams of playing in the National Program comes as no surprise to the many teammates and coaches that have shared the pitch with her. Olivia is listed on the squad for the Canada U17 Women’s team where Canada will begin its journey in the Dominican Republic for the 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers on Saturday 26th August.
Olivia has played through most programs at North Toronto, starting her soccer days in Rec, as many do. At 7 years old, Olivia joined the Nitros Development Program, moving through the age groups to the Advanced Development Program. Olivia joined the Talented Pathway Program during her U13 year in OPDL, where it was becoming clearer to many that she had something special at her feet. Coaches were often looking at ways to best challenge and support Olivia, to ensure she would reach her potential, which led to her much deserved opportunity to play up with older age groups in OPDL.
Eventually, Olivia would join the Ontario National Development Centre (NDC) where she would continue to develop and impress those around her. Seeing her name in the squad list for the U17 Women’s Canadian National Team is just another step along her pathway to achieving her dreams of representing Canada at the senior level. Olivia not only worked hard and dedicated herself to improving, but she also made many sacrifices to get the opportunities she’s had and will continue to get.
North Toronto Soccer is proud to see her taking huge strides in the game and will be cheering her on as Canada takes on Dominica on Saturday, August 26 (15.00 ET / 12.00 PT), Guyana on Monday, August 28 (18.00 ET / 15.00 PT) and Bermuda on Wednesday, August 30 (18.00 ET / 15.00 PT) across their group phase at Félix Sánchez Stadium, Dominican Republic.
Best of luck Livi!
